Be Smart
In occasione dell’invito di Radicate, Associazione per la Ricerca sull’Arte e la Cultura Contemporanea, Cherimus ha partecipato a Be Sm/ART, un progetto artistico-scientifico in collaborazione con la Facoltà di Ingegneria del Campus di Savona (Università di Genova) sul tema della città sostenibile che grazie a una microgrid (microrete) energetica intelligente, ottimizza i flussi energetici.
Gli artisti di Cherimus Simone Berti, Derek Di Fabio, Isa Griese, Isamit Morales, Andrea Rossi, Matteo Rubbi, Emiliana Sabiu e Carlo Spiga, per due mesi hanno lavorato nel Campus. In collaborazione con il Teatro dei Cattivi Maestri di Savona, Cherimus ha invitato al Campus un gruppo di bambini a cui è stato affidato il compito di immaginare la loro città del futuro. Le idee raccolte hanno costituito così il terreno comune su cui si sono esercitati professori, studenti e artisti per l’intera durata del programma: da qui è nato un progetto corale che ha coinvolto la Campuswhave radio, i ragazzi dellíAssociazione Giovani per la scienza e l’associazione Atmosfera Danza. Il loro lavoro è stato documentato da un video e da un podcast presentati in anteprima al Museo di Villa Croce di Genova.
Starting from the childrens’ ideas, this collective research culminated in the realization of the work 30 on Pedals, a large sculpture lightened up by pedal-produced energy. 30 on Pedals was installed at the entrance of the Campus – a tangible sign of the cooperation between artists, students and scientists. The idea of the work was to give students the chance to achieve the highest grade in the Italian University system, 30, by pedaling!
A partire dalle idee dei bambini, questa partecipazione collettiva ha trovato un momento di sintesi nella realizzazione dell’opera 30 a pedali, una grande scultura luminosa illuminata da energia autoprodotta pedalando, grazie ad un meccanismo creato insieme agli ingegneri del Campus. 30 a pedali è stata installata all’entrata del Campus, come segno tangibile della collaborazione fra artisti, studenti e scienziati.
L’opera 30 a pedali troverà la sua collocazione definitiva nella biblioteca del Campus di Savona, in modo da accompagnare la vita e lo studio dei ragazzi del Campus.

On the invitation by Radicate (Research Association on Contemporary Art and Culture), in 2015 Cherimus took part in Be Sm/ART, an artistic-scientific project realized in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Genoa, based in the Campus of Savona. The topic of the project was the sustainable city and the optimization of energy flows through smart energy micro-grids.
Cherimus’ artists Simone Berti, Derek Di Fabio, Isa Griese, Isamit Morales, Andrea Rossi, Matteo Rubbi, Emiliana Sabiu and Carlo Spiga worked in the Campus for two months. In partnership with Savona’s Teatro dei Cattivi Maestri, Cherimus invited a group of children to the University to imagine their city of the future. The ideas that emerged from this encounter became the common ground on which professors, students and artists worked for the rest of the programme, giving birth to a collective project involving also Campuswave Radio, the Youngsters for Science Association and the Atmosfera Danza Association.
